In fact, even Crimea, which western sources claimed their referendum was faked, would later go onto admit that 82% of people in Crimea support it. That’s Washington Post. Not a Russian source.
Of course, not all Ukrainians want to secede, or even all of east Ukraine. Just some pockets in the east, in Donbas and Crimea.

Referendums held by the separatist government with incredibly dodgy ballot papers are a pretty bad way to gauge public opinion.
Crimea’s referendum is backed up by multiple polling agencies finding overwhelming support after the referendum. Crimea has also historically had a much larger secessionist movement than Donetsk or Luhansk.
I think there’s probably a majority in these regions that wants to secede but there’s nowhere near enough evidence to say how significant the support is.
