Just opened RiF for the first time in weeks and r/interestingasfuck wouldn’t even load but I saw a post about the KKK pulling guns at an lgbt rally in Corbin.

Ha. The one thing spez didn’t count on. Users actually just breaking the site. He will have so much money tied up in devs fixing all the vulnerabilities as they are revealed that he’ll wish he’d just left shit alone.

They never went away. They just hid when it was clear society would not tolerate them and now are out in full force due to all the right wing government support.

I have lgbt friends in corbin/barbourville :( It’s awful. I’m glad I moved out of Kentucky, even if it was to West Virginia. At least I moved into a gay friendly-ish town for work. I absolutely love the Appalachia area, but I fucking hate the people and politics here. :(

Remember how there was that big row back in the 1850s where the bottom half of America got so mad about not being able to do slavery that they split off # *to make their own country? And then when they were forced to come back, they got real pissy about having treat non-white people as equals? And a bunch of people started running around in white cloaks doing terrorism on African Americans for one reason or other?

      Thats the kkk

They also worked with local judges to get black people arrested for stupid reasons, because the constitutional amendment that banned slavery had an exception for if it was punishment for a crime. So they actually kept doing slavery anyway until the 1940s when FDR put a stop to it because he didn’t want Japan using that to smear the USA during WW2

You seriously don’t know? Trust me, ignorance is bliss in this case. They’re racists who dress up as not-so-friendly ghosts and terrorize anyone who isn’t like them. One of those unfortunate side effects of the American Civil War.

Mind if I ask where you live, purely out of curiosity? As an American not knowing about the KKK is quite surprising, but I suppose I don’t know most foreign hate groups.

They are an American terrorist organization that is responsible for over 6,500 African American deaths historically. They finally lost power after the government stepped in to stop them back in the 1950s to 1960s. They still maintain a presence in some places in the USA. Just a few years back I saw recruitment flyers for them in a town I was in.
