Carbon is the work of the devil.
Last Friday, during a class about the short and long term organic #carbon cycle, a student raised his hand:
“So, 6 protons, 6 neutrons, and 6 electrons…”, 666…carbon must be the work of the devil."
Maybe this can help us sell carbon neutrality to religious conservatives.
And every beast is made of the stuff.
It’s possible there are alien beasts not made of C, but made of SiN instead
What about aliens made of COS or TAN?
Those aren’t devils, they’re angles.
Now we all need to go to school board meetings and protest against allowing anything made out of carbon into our schools
mfw:
Supposedly, 666 being a bad number is a mistranslation, and the actual bad number is 616. This is according to an old episode of QI.
Or you could not believe in evil numbers.
Just switch to using an isotope.
Carbon neutrality means carbon dioxide neutrality. Carbon is just an element and literally everything you see and don’t see has some of it in it.
Also, around 2% of our sun’s energy production involves the Bethe-Weizsäcker cycle which is a cyclical fusion reaction using carbon, nitrogen and oxygen. (The main source of energy production is through a proton-proton chain since our sun is too small to rely on the CNO-cycle entirely)
I am a
carbonsatan-based organism.@MishaVelthuis @science_memes Truthfully, making money at the expense of the future of the world sounds like its devilish type stuff.
They are sacrificing the future of the world just for temporary pleasures which will be meaningless when they are dead
The irony is so thick that a python would have trouble swallowing it.
Now I wanna start a BanCarbon movement similar to “Ban Dihydrogen Monoxide”
This might work on getting the religious folks to go green. Don’t tell them what else has carbon.

Hail Satan.
Never mind the weather report.
@MishaVelthuis Carbon is the element that allows life to exist, as it makes the planet warm enough for liquid water by contributing to the greenhouse effect.
Maybe the devil is not such a baddie and just gets bad press?
