NY Mag interviewed Dr. David Spergel, head of the panel that provided the recent NASA report on UAP and apparently former classmate of David Duchovny… The questions touch on the events the panel reviewed, concerns over pseudo-science, and the need for more data.
A part of the discussion that stood out was about limits of data collected or in some cases lost. Regarding the Tic Tac event:
One of the things I discovered is that they didn’t keep the film. The way they recorded data was effectively on VCR tapes. You remember how you’d record your favorite TV shows over one another? It turns out that on every flight they used the same recording tape. A lot of the data isn’t hidden, it’s lost. The military was basically not taking these things seriously.
