Freedom is a synthetic enterprise, not a natural gift.
What has that to do with anything? So considering sex work as labour is being in favour of prostitution per se? The only thing that means is that people want them to be recognized as workers to have better living conditions, that’s it. And even if there are people who believe there still should be prostitution under, let’s say, communism, that represents such a small amount of people who believe that, that’s meaningless. I’ve talked with dozens of feminists and not a single one of them thinks like that.
Well, they are calling people pro rapism for being in favour of legalization, isn’t that a strong accusation? My argument is that if you do not legalize it women and other minorities will end up under prostitution but with uglier conditions anyway.
No, I’m not saying that the government will throw them to jail, but if we still have social classes and waged labour it will continue to happen. No capitalist government is going to generate jobs for all the people in the country, and even if they do, if there’s still wage labour a lot of people are going to choose prostitution over some shitty job because it probably pays more with less hours. Look at China as an example, they have eradicated extreme poverty nevertheless there are still prostitutes.
IMO you are being a pro rapist if you think that prostitution should be illegal under capitalism, and even under socialism, if there are social classes there will exist prostitution, and if it’s within the black market they will have a worst time. Look at China, they have banned prostitution nevertheless it still exists because the material conditions are not good enough. I don’t know with what kind of people you have spoken with, but I’ve never met a single person in favour of legalization that thinks that prostitution is good on itself…
It is work, women (generally, but there are big groups of male and other dissidents who also are sex workers) offer a service, which usually means the worker satisfying a fetish, producing an orgasm or something similar. Also, in my opinion most of the people who hires sex workers are not bourgeois men but rather poor people, and it is not rape, it’s called survival sex. Yes, surely it is not pleasant for most workers, but the sex is consensual (unless something else happens and it indeed turns into rape). I know some sex workers so some of what I’m saying is based on talks I’ve had with them. As for myself, I am pro sex work in the sense that as long as the material conditions for people are good enough in a way that they don’t need wage labour to live, there will continue to exist, therefore it is better to legalize it rather than to criminalize it and force these people to much uglier and dangerous conditions. I’m sure that if sex workers could work on a hygienic place where there are people making sure that they are safe, a lot of rapes could be avoided.
Regarding polyamory I don’t think it has nothing to do with what you are saying, and I don’t think it’s done to save some money for rent, the people I know who are in polyamorous relationships don’t even live together, and even if they do there are a ton of other things that monogamous societies will be against you. Still, I don’t think poly people will stop existing if we reach communism, they are simply different ways of approaching love, and if anything I think it is way less toxic than monogamous relationships.
Hell yeah, they should share the database or it would be a mess IMO but if I could have all of that in one place I would fucking love it. Still I am really excited about finding Bookwyrm, I have been searching for an alternative for like two years. It is invite only but I sent the admin an email to ask for an account, maybe I can generate one so if you are interested let me know.
I meant the browser add-on which at least in Mozilla’s add-on store is licensed under “Custom License” which generally means proprietary.
Yes, that’s their desktop application I think, but their add-on is closed source.
My idea isn’t like a social platform but rather a hosting website which focuses on those images being displayed somewhere else, but maybe Pixelfed can be used in the same way? I have heard about IPFS but I haven’t really looked into it, I know it has a lot of different features and possibilities which seems interesting and promising.

Yes, I think prostitution is one of the most dehumanizing issues around the globe, I would love for it to not exist. The only thing I want is that while there is no other choice, those people have the best living conditions possible.
