My brain has stopped functioning since this AM 🤣 but that’s fair re: “echo chambers in general” - just the “both sides” rhetoric and the specific questions about “dem echo chambers” had me wondering what specific problematic issues were stemming from that. I was gonna be specific but I can no longer find/follow the convo - Oy old age ig - thank for taking the time to answer.

Maybe easier to rent for pest control? That would be my most practical guess. Also subject to different building codes normally and faster to build than high rise apts.

What do you feel are the problematic issues stemming from the “dem echo chamber”?

I want to celebrate but isn’t part of the plan / what the conservatives want though? So they can appeal it to the Supreme Court and get permission to pass these laws nationwide?

These ain’t mama bears - mama bears prepare their cubs to survive in the real world. All I’ve seen from these women is trying to hide things from kids (history, gay people, books, whatever) - head burying- call ‘em ostrich moms or something.

Sleep stuff sucks, sorry you’re having a hard time. One thing that helps me - I bought some smart lights and programmed them to a schedule. They all go red and dim a couple hours before bedtime so I know to start winding down. The tv backlight also gets dimmed. It’s a nice little routine / cue. Supposedly minimizing blue light exposure before bedtime is good for your sleep?

You should also never underestimate evil - that’s how they win.

My primary care doctor does drug test for ADHD prescriptions. She’s mentioned it’s something the DEA wants to see if she prescribes controlled substances. I was only getting Vyvanse (which is supposed to be un-abusable?).

ETA: while marijuana was never specifically mentioned (I did not partake), my doctor did use those drug tests to chide me about nicotine use as I was vaping at the time… so it seems it’s not just about testing to ensure you’re taking your stimulants and not selling them…

How do you cope with knowing better

BIG IME - I think sometimes you gotta accept that maybe you don’t necessarily know better (it’s hard, i know).

Especially with dev work (especially open source) - sometimes you’re limited by available technology, time, resources (servers, bandwidth, people, blah blah), etc. Your ideas may be good but not feasible (at the moment), for example.

That’s not to say you can’t put forth your idea - repeatedly even. Keep being part of the conversation and ask questions, make suggestions. You just have to work on letting go of the frustration and seek to do some understanding of your own. The more you understand & learn, the more clearly you can communicate your own ideas using language / frameworks devs or others are more familiar with and the easier it might be to get buy-in for your ideas.

I’ve also found it helps to refine the problem statement - outline the issues and problems without offering solutions straight away & see if others note the same problems? It seems silly, but sometimes it’s easier to get folks on board with problems…
