Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What band do you think doesn't deserve the hype or fandom?
4·1 month agoTo me a lot of hate comes from the showman part. They toured too long. Last time I saw them in 2014 or so, I walked out. It was awful. The music was the music. The show was painful.
You know this is fake cause he can’t read.

Programming@programming.dev•Experienced software developers assumed AI would save them a chunk of time. But in one experiment, their tasks took 20% longer
2·1 month agoTrue. The AI parents are having issues. We all know OpenAI is hemorrhaging money. I think Anthropic is as well. They are all passing money between each other. But software companies, like the one I work for, don’t care what those companies are doing. As long as my company can use services provided by the AI parents, it’s not an issue if the AI parents themselves are losing money. Or if software companies can shove out their own AI feature (like the AI in ServiceNow or how Office 365 is getting some rebranding), all is well and they can brag about having AI to the shareholders.

41·1 month agoI get what you are saying and agree. But corporations doing give a fuck. As long as they can keep seeing increased profits from it, it’s coming. It’s not about code quality or time or humans. It’s about profits.
Don’t forget that a lot of that code has lasted for 50 years cause corporations were too cheap to update/upgrade. Profits > tech debt.
Been the sme and completely architected and implemented the entire middleware server farm for my last company. First in ibm after taking it over from someone else that started it, just a here you go takeover. Then moving from an ibm shop to oracle, cause the vp wanted a gold star and wouldn’t listen to anyone. I left when they were moving to red hat when the next vp came in and wanted their gold star. Little over 400 servers. Been there done that.
If it allows to kick out code faster to meet whatever specs/acceptance criteria laid out before me, fine. The hell do I care if the code is good or bad. If it works, it works. My company doesn’t give af about me. I’m just a number. No matter how many “we are family” speeches they give. Or try to push the “we are all a team and will win”….we aren’t all a team. Why should I care more than “does it work”. As long as profits go up, the company is happy. They don’t care how good or pretty my code is.
Um. I’d do it.
