If you need to summarize the news, which is already a summary of an event containing the important points and nothing else, then AI is the wrong tool. A better journalist is what you actually need. The whole point of good journalism is that it already did that work for you.
Google spent money to find bugs but won’t spend money to fix them. That simply makes the devs’ lives worse. It’s an asshole move.
They’re profiting from FOSS, nobody is trying to prevent them from doing so, but they refuse to spend small amounts of money helping out part-time coders … and you know why. That money is going to the mid-level managers themselves.
Do the right thing and help your company in the medium run, or pocket chump change? Yeah, easy answer.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Could somebody recommend me a reliable and safe email service to use instead of Google and Microsoft ones?
1·29 天前The security risk is the problem, right? If you can get a a new password sent to an email address for the person who owned it before you, that’s an interesting attack vector.
If you have to keep in mind that the ruling class is always fighting against itself. So when you say they could do whatever they wanted, actually that’s not exactly true. Throughout history they’ve often been killing each other and locking each other up.

14·1 个月前Nuclear power isn’t clean, stupid headline. Did we learn nothing from Fukushima or Three Mile or Monju? … Bonus points if you heard of Monju, which is on point because it, too, was a breeder reactor.
They are errors, not hallucinations. Use the right words and then you can talk about the error rate and the acceptable error rate, the same way we do everything else.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Employment contract that allows for open source projects, advice needed
5·2 个月前One option for some people, not everyone, is to just do your project on your own time and equipment and share it online. Don’t tell your boss, but make sure that some random people out there are forking it. Probably the boss never finds out, but even if they do, they won’t do anything.
Obviously this is slightly risky, but for many people it is a reasonable move. All depends on the details.
