seemingly random things happening is a thing before each major war.
only under certain conditions; mostly pertaining to wealth & vanity. lol
there’s definitely an age gap and i think it mirrors the generational cohort social divides.
also: i was referring to the comment about americans realizing that the health care industry was evil.
I’d say if you polled Americans under 40 you’d get majority support.
which makes them millennials and are a majority which also likes tiktok and abhors genocides; but live in a hegemony that bans tiktok; escalates beyond the gazan genocide; and voted in a presidency that will reverse civil liberty gains that they once enjoyed.
i don’t think that majority support is enough anymore.
he’s probably the closest thing that americans can have to an aristocrat; but, traditionally, aristocrats had more relative wealth and influence than this ceo did.
marxists & leninists have definitions for lots of words that have been adopted by everyone of the last century+ but pop culture likes to redefine those words every few years and seeing the pop culture definitions clash with the accepted definitions is a really common sight here, given pronounced m/l userbase and i love seeing it because it keeps reminding me that i’m so americanized that i can understand that aristocrats like this ceo are more bougie that the bourgeois. lol
and in a sense, he is an aristocrat because he has significant enough influence in government policy to permanently enrich himself and his allies just like the aristocrats of the past did and his children will likewise hold similar wealth and influence, effectively creating a modern day feudal dynasty.
they’ve become like politicians or lawyers or police or soldiers who don’t care about the damage they’ve inflicted on millions of people’s lives and believe that what they’re doing is justified because it’s for some “greater good” and never mind that the people they’re harming were never part of that greater good.
the fact that he doesn’t even need makeup to look like a space fascist is 🤌
i came here like most lemmy did; because reddit; and i hope to be here for a long time since all substantially financed social media platforms enshitify eventually like reddit or facebook did or enshitify immediately like bluesky did when they banned gazans.
but it’s so dangerous; everyone who drinks it dies. lol
yes, but tiktok is the biggest circus by far; surely there must be some fallout for taking out the biggest treat generator.
I watched ace Ventura the other day and I cringed so hard at the transphobia and I remember laughing at it in the theaters too when it was new.
… I will be so sad if people stop talking about this
ikr. I haven’t been this excited about the news on a long time. Lol
A majority still didn’t agree
Do you have posts you can share about this?
not joking at all at the gays at the near deep south (aka austin texas) have taught the straight people through their self loathing enough to target the gays with SIGNIFICANTLY more precision-ed weaponry that the russians would every hope to match; just ask how the plain clothes TABC officers get the gays to turn on each other in enforcement in texas. lol
this guy is going to meet his maker simply because he lowered his mask to flirt with the receptionists who asked him to to do it; RIP my hero for being so human that you couldn’t be an angel in the biblical sense.
Give it more time; but yes, past a certain point, they’re dead
Just make sure they’re past the finaced majority definition of dead (aka non profit) and actually dead. (Usually 60 weeks or so)
Please do run: had it not for don’t ask, don’t tell I too would be one of those unfortunate souls asking the Biden administration for forgiveness for having gay sex in the last year or so that I can be approved to represent American values as I bombed someone for the last 48 years.
i have all of those things on my ubuntu server; but i wouldn’t characterize all of them as enterprise-grade . my ubuntu server it’s based off of off-the-shelf hardware from a couple years ago and it does all of those things that you described plus more.
it’s my wifi router; my data storage backup; my home made security system; my media server inside; & my cat’s favorite warm spot all within a tiny case the size of a toaster with lots of harddrives. it uses 2 kvm/qemu based virtual machines on top of the bare iron and they both use pci-passthrough; the first virtual machine is based off of the pfsense soft firewall & router and also serves to air-gap the bare iron server from the internet and the second virtual machine is windows 10 and serves to provide wifi 6 & 7 speeds with the windows ap driver.
i wouldn’t describe any of it as enterprise grade since they’re a bit hacky: for example, the server is mostly headless; but i did install the xserver & vnc because i use the motion project along with a bunch of old androids to create a homemade security monitoring system and that requires a browser. this means that i can now access the server’s gui anywhere than i want; but it’s subject to vnc’s limitations.
however the things that come from the soft firewall are definitely enterprise grade: the vpn works well and i can use both it and ssh from anywhere in the world to access my home network and i could theoretically add in a remote check in capability from a new project that reacts to incoming connections.
the only thing i don’t think it could do i the high temperatures; the case is compact so i doubt that its thermals are any good.
