Almost entirely digital now. As for why:
- backlight
- font size adjustment
- built in dictionary
- local library closed for a few years
- lighter/better form factor than most books I read
I find I buy far more books now that I have an e-ink reader.

Have you considered moving somewhere that’s better aligned with your values? It’s not something to undertake lightly, but I know that moving helped me a lot. Totally different situation for me though.
For me it was basically just moving somewhere bigger, even if I didn’t get much better at making connections just knowing it was possible made a difference.
Good luck to you.
Cars work well for smaller, more spread out towns. They can’t really stop anywhere in most large cities - there’s just no parking for them. The space is simply too valuable to waste on parking other than loading zones and taxi stands.
There’s just too many people wanting to move about to accommodate them with cars. At these scales mass transit is more convenient.
Even my city relies on public transit, and it’s only around 200k people, 400k in the metropolitan area.
They’re just pointing out that Windows does this too.
Does xfreerdp with the /multimon flag not do this?
That’s kinda cool - I’d never heard of the alternate meanings. It’s always been something along the lines of “at your own expense” here.
In my last couple of jobs I’ve found that most of the software required for work is either available as a web app or runs just fine on Linux. There have only been a handful of users needing Windows to do their jobs. It all depends on what your role is.
Again, my freedom to use and modify the code as I see fit - including selling it - is the whole point.
There’s no doubt the developers deserve support for their work, but there’s no requirement imposed by Free Software for this.
All criminals get away with their crimes for a time. How many companies want to be sitting on a time bomb like that though?
The ability to modify the code is a central tenet of free software. The GPL takes care of making those modifications available to others. That effectively is the payment the original devs get.
Sometimes it pays to not go looking for problems.
The staff at such places can decide whether they want to ask a group to move on. Respect their choice to do so and stop trying to police your friends’ behaviours over your own fears.
This seems misleading. If no one tipped the employer would be required to pay staff the state minimum wage, not the $2.13 that’s often brought up. Tipping is really a handout to the owners, because now they don’t have to pay their employees.
Or, you know, just pay people properly in the first place. If you’re going to reach for legislation why target tips?
Installing it on a virtual machine can be a good way to try it out to begin with. No need to restart whenever you’d like to use it, and you’ve still got access to everything you normally use.
I remember using VirtualBox years ago to do this.
Sure, but you’re not likely to be doing much of either without owning one 🙂 I’d be surprised if a gun owner allowing someone else to store or transport their guns isn’t in breach of their license as well.
The strictness really only applies to gun ownership though - if you just want to shoot there’s plenty of places you can do that.
You’ll come across good and bad wherever you travel. When we travelled in Japan a few years ago we found pretty much everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. We didn’t speak any Japanese.
I wouldn’t bother renting a car unless you’ve got a specific plan for it - their public transit is excellent and will still take you out into the countryside if you want.
Except that they’re not. NFTs take something that exists - like domain names - and injects unnecessary Blockchain bs. What added value does a Blockchain bring?
Can confirm. The rosellas were delightful. The Ibis were pretty awesome as well -such a trashy looking bird. Ours at least hides its shame (kiwi).
