  • Aircooler

Pretty simply put, what you get when you take a fan and put a chilled/frozen water bottle in front of it. Say a fan in about the same housing looking like a portable airco with water being dripped in the airflow instead of using a coolant in a radiator to cool the air flowing trough.

It’s a cheaper way to get the temp 1-2 degrees © lower instead of freezing your *** off in dehumidified air.

  • Why should you want to cancel shows? When you don’t like the show, don’t watch. When nobody likes a show, nobody watches, no ad income -> exit show.

Of your example, I never heard of the last one, and to be honest, the name doesn’t sound interesting enough to find out whatnit’s about. Simpsons I haven’t seen in ages (does it still run?) And I’m happy with the 2nd reboot of Futurama, rewatching from the start.

Just because you don’t like a show it should be canceled. Ignoring it is way easier. When it’s worth to have it canceled, it’s not worth to fuss about.

  • Quit.

The government here (Netherlands) failed to make any long term decisions. They didn’t even make bad decisions, just none what so ever. After the government fell, all major political figures in the main parties just quit. Time for new blood and for the youngest generations to start making decisions. The oldies won’t survive long enough to have to worry about the mess the world is in and the mess will only get worse.

No clue if elections will result in something better, but it’ll be interesting to see which direction the voters will be going. I’t finally worth it to vote for the youngest eligible voters.

  • Nop, when we want to reuse, we use containers, bags are for one-time use.

There is an exception, we have special treathed bags for storage of vegetables and fruits. The coating slows down ripening and the bags can be wased about 20x before the coating is gone. They usually don’t last that long. Alas, the store that had them stopped with them, as most people just threw them away after a singele usage. (So we try to extend their lifespan, even without coating they’re useful)

Ziplog bags are used for items where we want to use a few at a time of, instead of all at once, like storing carrots for us or the guniea pigs.

  • The only silly amd serious easy solution, don’t produce CO2 when not needed.

People in the west don’t need a new smart phone every 6 months, don’t need a new car every 4 year, don’t need new clothes every year just to follow fasion.

Repair what needs repairing, use what you have and still works, don’t buy new just because some sales idiot tells you it’s better. At this moment we have huge waves of replacement of goods that function perfectly, but a new one is slightly more economic with the energy, ignoring the energy that is needed for production and transport. In the west we consume waste, not use products to their maximum potential.

  • Same here, bought a luxury safety razor for €79 with 50 blades. Alas, it’s adjustable and that mechanic failed. Got a gilette version from the 60s and that’s stoll fully functional, but the new one (qshave) is heavier and nicer to use. Bought a 20 pack of 10pc feather blades with it as well, 14 packs left. (280 weeks of shaving)

The type of razor is working out greatly, I just need to find a way to repair the qshave unit.

  • I was using DDG to get an idea what you’re talking about, but I guess it’s not Peter Tosh Albums or a Danial Tosh book (Happy Thoughts) Then I found ot’s a posh woird for crap/junk.Ah well.

Nop, not here. When I buy cheap stuff it’s because I’m not sure if I want to spend more on something better. Just to feel the water. I bought a frettless bass for €82 to see if I like that type of bass playing. If not, no big loss (they sell for a lot more used), if I do like it, I guess it’ll stay. (I like it a lot, I’m just not that good yet in playing it)

Same with a clarinet mouthpiece + reed. At the store they had a range from €19 up to well over €100, but I have no clue if either a, the one I have works (mouthpiece is broken, reed is old) and b, I can/like to play it.

For some, these purchases would be considered useless, for me it’s to try something without to high investment, so it has purpose. When people really want to ‘throw away’ money and have nothing to show for it, there are enough charities that could use the donations.
