Rixi Moncada , the LIBRE presidential candidate, denounced electoral fraud and interference by Donald Trump on Monday night from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, assuring that the elections are not lost and that she will not give up.
Moncada stated that the Honduran two-party system “imposed its electoral scheme” through twenty-six audio recordings that revealed the manipulation of the preliminary results transmission system and biometrics . To this situation, the candidate added the “direct imperial foreign interference” of US President Donald Trump .
The Libre Party, for its part , does not accept the results and demands a review of the tally sheets, which were not processed using biometrics . It calls for peaceful protest.
The leader of LIBRE explained that just hours before the election , Trump announced a “full pardon” for drug trafficker Juan Orlando Hernández , sentenced by the United States as a principal co-conspirator in organizing a cartel that trafficked more than 400 tons of drugs . In an “unprecedented act,” Trump also condemned and directly threatened her, stating that “the intelligent people of Honduras would reject her” and that he " could not collaborate with Moncada and the communists ." According to Moncada, this statement was interpreted by the people as direct coercion to vote.
Faced with this scenario, Moncada declared that she will maintain her positions and will not surrender. She affirmed that she will always stand with the people , upholding her values of defending a free homeland and the principles of non-interference, popular sovereignty, independence, and self-determination. The candidate reiterated that her proposal for economic democratization, as well as the defense of public assets and common goods, "remains valid . "
The LIBRE candidate emphasized the importance of social justice, free and universal access to education and healthcare, and the fight for the right to truth and transparency. She also reiterated her commitment to combating public-private corruption and the impunity enjoyed by the twenty-five economic groups and ten families who, she asserted, oppress the nation with their monopolies.
Manipulation of records and irregular votes
Moncada explained that one of the “traps” consisted of eliminating the validation of tally sheets against biometric readers , a measure approved by the National Electoral Council (CNE) the night before the elections. According to the candidate, this approval “enables the inclusion of inflated tally sheets,” especially at the presidential level .
The candidate explained that the tally sheets “without biometrics” have an average of 217 votes each. So far, 2,859 tally sheets without biometric validation have been registered, representing 25.35 percent of the total .
Moncada presented specific figures regarding these irregular records :
- The National Party has accumulated 1,588 records without biometrics , totaling 326,285 votes.
- The Liberal Party registered 1,041 records without biometrics , with 217,193 votes.
- The Free Party, in contrast, has only 204 records without biometrics .
In total, the two-party system, comprised of the National Party and the Liberal Party , accounts for 2,629 tally sheets without biometrics, which implies 543,478 votes published as valid without the corresponding fingerprint registration . Moncada stated that these tally sheets “have more votes than they should,” with extreme cases of up to 100 additional votes.
Rejection of candidates and call for resistance
Moncada stated that she will not recognize any of the candidates of the “oligarchy ,” whom she considers “all the same” for protecting those who “do not pay taxes and have taken over 80 percent of the national wealth.”
The candidate announced that her party will demand a review of these tally sheets and will use all legal resources during the 30-day period established for the final general count . The goal is to ensure that the popular will expressed at the ballot box is strictly respected.
