I am looking for a website similar to Privacytools, Prism Break, Ethical.net or switching.software but more focused on freedom than privacy, presenting the best replacements for proprietary programs in the desktop and mobile. Is there anything like that?
Here’s a good github one: https://github.com/awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted
I have a list here too that I made: https://github.com/dessalines/essays/blob/master/favorite_apps_and_services.md
I have repo with list like that.
Alternative.to does have license badges next to their recommendations. For example typing in Evernote has Joplin as their 2nd recommendation with an “open source” badge.
If you are using duckduckgo search engine there’s also
!alt
bang you can use:evernote !alt
will lead you to the page above! And now there is Switching.Software, which i found via ReverseEagle.org, which has their discussion community right here !reverseeagle@lemmy.ml !
(edited to clarify that ReverseEagle is how i first encountered Switching.Software, not as far as i know who maintains it)
