    As bad as it is, when someone is trying to complete a task (solve crime) they’ll most likely use every resource they can. I hope the focus goes onto securing access to the data rather than a call to ban/remove covid tracing apps.

      The fact that there things inadmissable in court shows that we, as a society, do NOT subscribe to the notion of solving crime at ANY AND ALL costs. For example, we’ve generally agreed that confessions obtained through torture or evidence through illegal search and seizure can’t be used against a person. I think COVID contact tracing data should fall into that category.

        Sure, I agree with you. My point is that it simply should not be possible for police to access the data unless authorise for a legitimate use (and access is monitored) - remove temptation
