People on lemmy are the same fuckwad assholes you meet on reddit. It’s not like being a better person is enforced on the lemmyverse outside of a couple of instances like hexbear and lemmygrad. idk maybe it’s me but it’s like why bother, why not just use reddit if you’re going to be a shitty person or overall debate pervert? Weird shit.
One thing I haven’t seen mentioned yet, is the anglosphere dominance. Reddit is a US company, so pro-US foreign policy takes, and english swamps out everything else. Lemmy has a ton of language / country specific servers, with people posting articles in those languages.
Overall tho you’re correct, a lot of redditors don’t care that this platform gives them an opportunity to view things outside of their western-supremacist US-tech bubble.
