I like the implication that, while Reddit has both a regular Vegan and an Anarchist Vegan sub (that uses this very symbol too), we just skip that middle step and go straight to vegan anarchism.
Nothing in the sidebar yet, but I doubt they’re excluding Marxist Vegans.
It checks out, Veganism is political
I don’t think that’d address the question at hand. While yeah arguments for a vegan-anarchism can exist, I don’t think there’s anything inherently anarchist about it as a whole unless you do an arbitrary level of gatekeeping.
i think it’s more of a passive symptom. consumption against the way that society has traditionally viewed as convenient and proper may happen to go hand in hand with some anarchism ideals, but it’s not a fanatic group, so it really doesn’t matter?
personally, i’m not vegan all of the time, depending on my budget. I tend to favour local + what’s in season (in canada that means there’s a decent part of the year where a lot of fruit and veg just aren’t happening) for similar eco+anarchist reasons.
plus, some people are so adamantly against veganism that it may as well be political like everything else at this point…
The community icon has been set by its original creator, @firstname.lastname@example.org, which has long been offline. I have to admit I’ve never noticed it before because I’ve set uBlock to filter out community icons (it took me a while to figure out what this post was about lol). All leftists are welcome here - this community is not necessarily more anarchist than it is marxist
Anarchist can mean Left Libertarian,
& Left Libertarian can mean Green.
Greens are aware that meat and dairy production is a major cause of climate change, so
Many Anarchists are Vegan.
