I too like the Hong Kong police as far as police go.
The only police force I’d prefer is in Vietnam.

Also, aside from Hong Kong, the police on the Mainland could get heckled and they wouldn’t arrest you or anything; try doing that in the USA, especially while black or indigenous. One WeChat friend even told me that you could get physical with a police officer and it wouldn’t matter, or you’d have less of a chance of getting arrested than you would in the USA, at the very least. I don’t mean to “stir the pot” but I think ACAB is… kinda a meme at this point and only a meme. Under a Marxist-Leninist government, you need a system of law enforcement to suppress the rightwing and bourgeois elements.

I’ve seen a lot of MLs who are in favor of police and prison abolition. I’ll ask them next time about it. My guess is that the character and function of the political police would be totally different from whatever new system of public safety they want to create.
