    Sadly it appears that capitalism will not be overthrown in time to avoid the 2 degree rise by 2030

    climate change may end up extending the life of capitalism by stimulating demand for air conditioners, new construction in cooler areas and sea walls.

      I don’t know how you came to this assessment when we’ve all seen how the US reacted to the wildfires and COVID. I expect stuff like that to happen in socialism (PRC built 2 hospitals immediately for example during COVID) instead.

        Yes the US will do a minimalist response, but this will still be a huge amount of spending, but much less than any Green New Deal etc

        Fires: No attempt made to upgrade California power infrastructure, many wealthy companies and households bought emergency generators for their own use

        Seawalls: they will build seawalls around places they care about: London, Manhattan, Venice, Netherlands. Other places will be allowed to go underwater - Bangladesh, New Orleans, South Florida, Pacific Islands
