I recently had someone reach out to me about how ancient and poorly-designed marxists.org is, and how they want to help upload or “re-do” the site. I can’t think of a better place to put those books than the prolewiki library.

Does anyone know of any tool / script that can take html and convert it to wiki markup that would be somewhat easy to upload into prolewiki?

More is always better in this case, so we are definitely interested in anyone and anything that can help fill Prolewiki’s library with texts from marxists.org!

There is readability which is used in Firefox’s reader mode: https://github.com/mozilla/readability

Also there’s a CLI wrapper around this library which might make it easier to use for people like me who don’t know JS: https://www.npmjs.com/package/readability-cli

This could be used to get a simplified HTML doc. To convert it to markdown maybe something like pandoc could be used but I don’t think wikimedia accepts markdown.
