    Never ceases to crack me up when conservatives try to downplay the politics of Star Trek. Like, it’s about a socialist society written by a self ID’d communist. There’s the episode in TNG when they fetch a rich guy out of stasis and Picard has to gently explain to him that the economy his wealth was part of doesn’t exist anymore.

    I mean, Roddenberry definitely had a lot of issues but he was always clear about his views on political economy.

    Technically speaking, Mao was a Marxist-Leninist and Maoism in its current form wasn’t invented till the 1980s.

      I think Maoism can either refer to Marxism-Leninism Mao Zedong Thought (ML-MZT), or it can refer to Marxism-Leninism-Maoism (MLM) depending on the context - these days it’s mostly used for the latter

        That is correct.

        Maoism also referred to those in the 60s and 70s that supported China over the Soviet Union in the West.

    Why is this showing up in my all feed after 3 years of being posted?

    Anyone surprised by his standings didn’t watch the show. I mean the ferengis were capitalists caricatures
