I’m reading people’s republic of wal-mart right now. The authors are liblefts of the worst kind, I’m on a part where they’re devoting 2 chapters to muh authoritarian stalinism, and like good western chauvinists, repeat all the usual CIA propo: holodomor gulag purges + stalin = bureacracy = bad.

There are two good chapters early on in the book where they’re analyzing walmart and amazon’s internally planned economies, but other than that, its trash. And even in the amazon chapter, they call Bezos, “Stalin without a mustache”.

Clicked on Mark Avery’s Inglorious to see what it is about. It’s about driven grouse shooting. Didn’t know what it was so I googled it. From Wikipedia:

Driven grouse shooting is the hunting of the red grouse, a field sport of the United Kingdom. The grouse-shooting season extends from 12 August, often called the “Glorious Twelfth”, to 10 December each year.Large numbers of grouse are driven to fly over men with shotguns, or can be walked up in a line using specially trained dogs to flush the bird.

Man I hate shit like this. So unnecessarily cruel.

Look at this shit.

However, banning shooting entirely serves only to punish the innocent majority.

Ugh this guy gets the wall

Because this “sport” is not regulated very well, there is sometimes also killing of other animals that are protected species. When the SNP tried to regulate this in the Scottish Parliament to prevent endangered and protected species from being shot, I saw a Conservative MP post on their official Facebook page “The SNP have resorted to CLASS WAR!!!” in all caps like that. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

For discussing books by socialists or about socialism.
