So, as a big Linux nerd I’m pretty excited about this idea. China is planning on replacing MS Windows on all government computers by 2022 with a homegrown Linux distro called “Unified OS” which is based on the already notable Chinese distro Deepin, which is based on Debian. Not only that, but they are making sure it is optimized to work well on thier new Chinese made chips. Not only is that great for China, helping it become further independent on Western silicon, but it should really hurt Microsoft’s market share since China is such a huge market. Last I heard, Huawei isn’t allowed to ship thier new computers with Windows even if they wanted to.
Whoa, do you have any articles? I hadn’t heard about this. Sounds fkn awesome.

Information is a little scant, obviously us english speakers aren’t really the market for it. The wikipedia article is a stub. I found an ISO but I couldn’t get it to boot on my PC, but the desktop environment is readily available, perfectly decent. I Like it better than GNOME anyway.
That’s awesome. I feel they (and all other countries) should have done a long time ago but better late than never.
When I was a racist lib, I didn’t trust Deepin because they were Chinese but maybe I’ll try it out someday.
