in 2015 they did this all over Ukraine after euromaidan/desovietisation. An artist from Manchester found out about it and went to hunt for an Engels statue because he famously lived in the city for years whilst writing with Marx.
Now there’s a fuckin massive Engels statue outside the community gallery/cinema near Manchester’s gay village. It rocks.

The artist is pretty cool too. He’s done lots of work with the oppressed from Iraq, Palestine, and Macedonia. Nowadays he works as a professor for art in Cologne.
