The NATO bloc will deploy 700 additional peacekeepers to Kosovo, where 30 troops were wounded during clashes with local Serb protesters. Another battalion will be placed on high alert in the event of further escalation.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced the move during a Tuesday press briefing, saying the deployment was a response to recent “attacks” on the peacekeeping force, which he said were “unacceptable.”

Stoltenberg urged officials in Pristina and Belgrade to take “concrete steps” to de-escalate the situation, and said the two sides should participate in an EU-brokered dialogue.

Dialogue is when we force you to recognize your breakaway province

Violent clashes between local Serbs and NATO’s Kosovo Force (KFOR) erupted after peacekeepers attempted to disperse demonstrators protesting the inauguration of a an Albanian mayor in a Serb-majority area. The standoff resulted in dozens of injuries on both sides.

Here’s a thought: don’t deploy your soldiers to a country where the people don’t want you. The nerve of this guy to think he’s the world’s police lol

Always wondered why NATO and the US pour this much effort into Kosovo specifically.

There are a lot of natural resources to exploit there, specifically through mining of various important minerals. Also, they obviously profit from the whole region being destabilized making it easier to imperialize the individual countries.

This whole debacle feels like NATO’s trying to start a conflict in Kosovo, possibly to spark a response from Russia. I really hope this can be handled in a way that doesn’t escalate tensions in Europe, but I know NATO will stop at nothing to provoke its enemies.

NATO comes in, local children disappear. If you know anyone from this region tell them to keep their family safe.

Listened to First Thought today, apparently the US sanctioned Kosovo with not being allowed to participate in a certain drill and the US ambassador to Kosovo has this to say “ We will cease all efforts to assist Kosovo in gaining recognition from states that have not recognized Kosovo and in the process of integration into international organizations,” said Ambassador Hovenier. Kinda surprising, what do yall think about it

Well it’s coming from the US so obviously I doubt it. It might just be a scheme to say a thing and do something else, they’re not sending NATO troops there for nothing.

Maybe someone in Kosovo govt started to have delusions of sovereignity? Or are they faking withdrawing of support to bait Serbia to do something.
