I just thought it was cool to see a video that’s not entirely positive on China but that does make a positive note on China’s efforts to combat climate change. I hope it reaches a lot of people who need it.

The entire channel is incredibly based in its analysis of the climate crisis. It also has a video defending MAS’ ecosocialist policies in Bolivia against the absurdly high standards to which some Western activists hold it

I will say it: Critiquing China/other socialist countries accomplishes nothing for Western leftists (real or fake leftists) and at worst is counter productive to building global solidarity.

Not only that, one can hardly even begin to offer any real criticism if one does not know the language, spend significant time studying the country, and does not live there.

And you can extend this to non socialist anti imperialist countries in general. The best one can do is critically support these nations as the progressive force for a multipolar world that they are, and hope they do well on domestic issues.

I have mixed feelings about it. I’m so tired of pretending to concede to some of the lies to make some of the truths more palatable, even if I can see why he does it.

But the bone he’s throwing to ‘appear reasonable’ is that he’s casting doubt on the CPC’s SWCC. I really don’t think that’s worth it.

Yeah I liked this video a lot too. My only real criticism was using the sort of negative connotation of the term “state capitalism” and implying that Xi’s claims of having socialism with Chinese characteristics are dubious. But those are relatively small critiques in light of the fact that the video has an overall very positive message about China and dispels a lot of harmful myths about them, while reminding viewers that the US is clearly the real problem

I think the person behind OCC has a good chance of being actually ML but prefers keeping an accessible store front to attract as many people as possible and introduce communism to hippies and anachists via environmentalism
