Basically the title, I want to run a tracker to upload torrents and have archives of everything, I will pay for the hosting and domain and so on. I would just need some guidance on how to set it up, but if you can help me it would be a nice thing to have. I’ve searched for some hosting providers in Argentina and they’re absurdly cheap, and getting a domain is not too expensive. So well, it would be a nice thing to have.

So, it’s not necessary generally to run your own tracker just to share stuff. You can add some global open trackers to any torrent and as long as port forwarding is working on both client and server it will just work. So in that regard you could just start posting torrents with said embedded open trackers on a dedicated sub-lemmy, find someone to host them (or host yourself) and off you go!

That said, one of the lemmy programmers used to run a kind of re-tracker, torrents-csv.ml or something like that which basically just indexed existing torrents on popular sites and acted as a tracker for them so if you can get in touch with them they have first hand experience (it is even included as a plugin in qbittorrent in the searcher tab so they put some work into it).

Do you mean that you’ll be posting automatically to lemmygrad? Reading posts/comments? Both? I made a bot library to help with this sort of automation, but depending on what your doing you might be able to just use lemmy’s RSS feed feature.

No, it would be something like The Pirate Bay, where we could upload films, music, books, whatever as .torrent files and share them between us. We could also upload archives of Lemmygrad if we want, though.

Oh, gotcha. I can’t help you there unfortunately.
