Mine is probably Sekiro. I really dislike the story being about feudal Japan and the main character being the grunt for a privileged asshole but the combat and bosses are so good. I don’t think any game will ever top that.

To see how good the game is, compare it to J*di Knight: Fallen Order, which is essentially meant to be a clone of Sekiro but is so lacklustre in comparison.

Hm… I’m going to cheat and give three answers.

My favorite game of all time would be the original Fallout. Older than me but that’s how I like them. 😫

My favorite game by hours played (and actually enjoying those hours) would be Hearts of Iron 4.

Finally, my favorite game of recent, would be Tonight We Riot; I can’t imagine if any current events are influencing that though. Fuck the dockyards though.

I pirated Fallout 2 last year just for fun, but it was just unplayable for me coming from the newer ones. The series is really fantastic though, did you enjoy NV, 3, and 4?

3 and New Vegas I never really got more than a few hours into, mostly due to crashes and corrupted saves. New Vegas I would like to get back around to at some point though, I love deserts. 4 is okay but hasn’t grabbed me either. The weird thing is, nostalgia isn’t at play here. I first played Fallout 1 in 2016.

I played a lot of StarCraft Brood War and that’s the only game I care about watching competitively. Lately I don’t play it anymore because it’s exhausting. Favorite recent game is Stellaris, that was my first Paradox game which I heard a lot about from comrades here! Favorite console games - Fallout series. Game I should try - Hearts of Iron. I’ve heard a lot of good reviews from my fellow Lemmy users. Bonus: favorite weird game - Disco Elysium. I had never played a game like that before!

Have you heard of a little indie gem called Witcher 3? :smiling face with sunglasses:

No more seriously, I think it would have to be Nier Automata if I had to give an answer rn. One of the few games I completed to the end, and it’s not a short game by any means.

Or maybe MGS3, which I played when I was younger. I was blown away by the level of detail at the time and it still holds up. Though you fight soviet soldiers in it :(

For some reason when I read the title there was a faint game that came to mind, it’s on the tip of my tongue but I really can’t remember it and it’s really bothering me now lol. I suppose if it was so important to me I would remember it.

My favorite game of all time is Dragon Age Origins! Besides enjoying the fun high fantasy adventure, I picked it up right around the time I was starting to question my sexuality so it was pretty affirming to have a romance option with another girl. I know the game has some flaws with its approach to “gray morality” but overall I really like the varied role-playing options it has as well.

Making out with another male character as the male Commander Shepard in Mass Effect 3 (another Bioware game) was how I foudn out being gay was a thing. In my defense I was a sheltered cis het kid in a country that isn’t LGBT friendly.

Its hard to say a favourite game but a game I have enjoyed recently is The Messanger. I got it for free on epic games, it has a lot of nice twists and fun mechanics.

It has to be the Gran Turismo series, particularly 2 and 5. I’ve always been interested in motor racing, so naturally, I gravitated towards this series of games. Just the other day I took Alfa Romeo to the Gran Turismo World Championship title. That’s how much I have with this series.

Showing my age here, but I come back to these games a lot.

    • Max Payne - noir + matrix crossover with a great storyline
    • counterstrike 1.6 - runs everywhere, perfect pacing, still fun to play against bots even.
    • Unreal tournament
    • Diablo 2 - 10 hours later your clicking finger hurts and you don’t know why.
    • Super Mario, snes and 64, Mario parties, Mario parties, Mario karts, and smash bros
    • Starcraft 2, war craft 3.

I did when it first came out, beat the campaign, but that was when their store was broken and online play was absolutely terrible. Dang I didn’t know they were making a D4, cool.

Skyrim. Although, gaming has kinda lost its draw for me ever since I discovered communism. Everything in life just seems so boring in comparison.

favourite of all time is hard to put my finger on. There’s been a hell of a lot of games I’ve enjoyed deeply over the many years of playing them, but there’s only been a small handful I’ll often return to almost yearly. Sims 3, HOI4, and GTA3.

GTA is timeless, I found out recently that GTA5 online has a roleplaying community that just voice chats and lives out the lives of their characters. The graphics are so good, and people are just completely immersed. they even have VR now. It’s wild

I’m aware of the GTA roleplay servers, that shit’s wild. I forget channel names, but there’s a couple of decently sized youtubers that only ever do GTA roleplay.

and as someone who has played DnD im not judging, it’s just so unusual to me. I first found this on twitch, a streamer doing GTA RP with ~20k viewers! GTA was the shoot 'em up crime game for me, but they were being civilized :grinning face with smiling eyes:

Try slogging through a couple of hours and then see if you like it. This might help shake off the first impressions a little bit. I liked it a lot when I played it but that was a while ago.

Yeah, Quake is just pure adrenaline, every FPS that game out since was a regression in my opinion. I’m glad Xonotic carries the torch today. Although, I’d still like to see a version that just works like original Quake without all the changes.
