On the topic of stupid gender restrictions i hate fire emblem gender restrictions on class i know in engage it only exist for pegasus knights thing but its still stupid that it existed on threee houses.

The only game that had male pegasus knight is the fates game and it has awooga stuff like treating your characters as literally pokemon by petting them with the stylus

I am still disgusted by that Fire Emblem game, I believe the one with the “morale” system that involved being creepy with the touch pad on waifu characters, where (CW: Nintendo-style homophobia)

      spoiler

a lesbian character insists she wants to be “cured” by a male protagonist via a lesbianism-ending potion so she can basically become a broodmare, though if you play a female protagonist, mysteriously she has no option to romance her.

finally, huntresses can be samus aran-looking badass motherfuckers and hunters can be skimpy strippers 💖

i was actually thinking of passing MHWilds (seeing as how i still haven’t completed iceborne and sunbreak; and the fact that i kind of lost interest to MH games - as fun and epic as they can be) but this MIGHT incentivize me to get it lol. i just hope layered armors are easier to get now - as in, i can get them in the main game rather than having to wait much much later on in the game, especially in the major DLC

i’d love to see more games doing this. there’s practically no reason to restrict gears to a certain gendered people. we don’t live in the 1960’s anymore where clothes have gender somehow. well, most of us don’t anyway.

It kicks ass that since souls 1 armor are fully covered for women too while skyrim has fucking boobplates that looks silly for some god forsaken reason

mashallah dark souls invented gender equality armor 🫡

another w for us eastern devs 🫡🫡

seriously did practical armor for women not exist in any western games/fiction before? “boobplates” are worthless, you might as well get into battle wearing no armor, just clothes with how many weakpoints it exposes

oh, ffxiv doesn’t try to do the sexist “women can only wear skimpy outfits and men can only wear bulky outfits” shit?

asking since i may touch it one day /genq

A handful of outfits have more/less showing (especially older outfits) depending on whether male or female wearer but almost everything can be worn by either and there isn’t that JRPG “identical gear looks like full plate for men and like waifu fanservice for women” tendency.

This has more to do with technical debt and the obscurity of the items than deliberate choice. They started out having distinct items for genders and correcting these for 2024 is not a high priority compared to many other things that need work.

The main items that are still gender locked that you will encounter as a normal player are swimwear and level 1 starter gear. In the case of the starter gear, you can easily buy the correct gender stuff if you end up changing our characters gender or race if you know which of many NPCs sells it in the capitol towns.

Honestly, it’s more of a travesty ho few hats are available to Viera. Give me bnnuys with hats! Also, how many hair styles are locked off to certian races without this being very visible in the game when you get them.

There’s a few obscure and older cosmetic clothing items that I think are still gender locked from events from years ago, but a number of them have been retextured for use on both male and female characters over time. I think they intended to remove gender locked gear entirely and were making progress; even the fishnet-bunny outfits from the Gold Saucer can be worn by males of all races now.
