So I was just wondering how is it to live in a country to live without free health care , because I small human that live in the cold : Québec/Canada (wich is not realy better then the U.S. for the colonisation side and the proletariat against the bourgeois because it is based on the ‘‘wonder full’’ british system) where we have ‘‘free’’ health care so I do not know how stress full it probably is not know if you can pay your bill if you break one of your legs so yea tell me how life is and if you got any story about that tell me please . About 80% of my friends have to run gofundme’s whenever they have a medical issue. Going to any doctor, dentist, eye doctor or even gyno, they’re always trying to upsell you extras, and you have to decide whether its a scam, necessary, or worth it for the money.

This is especially bad when it comes to dentists. American dentistry has become a deeply predatory industry. Because dental insurance isn’t as common, few people go unless they are in dire straits (I speak from experience). They know our dental health education is poor, so they can trick us into all sorts of costly “treatments”. Plus their are tons of dental chains where impoverished dental school graduates upsell unnecessary procedures to pay back their mountains of student debt.
One rule of thumb I heard is: If they won’t put their name above the door, do go inside. (e.g. Avoid a place like " All Smiles Dentistry", consider the “John B. Smith DDS Dental Clinic” instead).
Yea that seems hard but weirdly enough I am pretty sure that here to doctor do that too but also if you are not a lot of familly/friends and if your not ‘‘rich’’ they won’t try their best to heal you , for example my mom has a skin cancer near the eye and it pretty ugly but what they wanted is to use my mom for class because she got not a lot of familly/friend so they wanted to remove here eye even if it was working well probably to give to a friend of a the doctor and so that is why I do not like doctor because they prefer to have money and help them self rather then to save people and the real hero are the intern and the nurses
It’s generally pretty shitty. In the US medical prices are inflated along with the need to buy medical insurance. So not only are certain things far more expensive in the US, but you also have to pay a service provider to save you money. So, if you need medical attention but you’re too poor for coverage, you’re not getting attention, which means hundreds - possibly thousands - die simply because they’re poor.

My mom died indigent like this actually, fairly young a few years ago. Couldn’t afford medical care, let things get worse and worse, and had a heart attack while she was out running errands, which was probably avoidable if she had the problems diagnosed and medicated.

It’s really fucking depressing, but I like the meme about the person who ?got stuck under a subway train? and demanded that no one call 911 because they couldn’t afford an ambulance (you pay for the ambulance ride too, which can get expensive). It pretty well displays the state of US healthcare.
I’ve actually known people who were shot/stabbed and drove themselves to the hospital, because they knew the hospital bill was going to be exspensive as is. Its absolutely ridiculous.

My insurance company routinely trolls me by canceling my prescriptions randomly with little or no reason. Whenever my med run low, I live in a state of terror, not knowing if I’m going to be able to take my meds. I once had to completely stop taking two meds at the same time with no warning because my insurance company decided I didn’t need them anymore.
