The People’s Republic of China, in its never-ending quest to expand its sphere of influence and keep tabs on the rest of the world, has decided to take a new approach to surveillance. After its much-publicized campaign of sending large balloons over the United States was met with fierce resistance (and several well-placed shots from American fighter jets), the Chinese government has decided to switch tactics.

Enter the “Dragonfly Kites”.

These kites, adorned with the latest in Chinese surveillance technology, will soar high above the American skies, monitoring the comings and goings of the unsuspecting citizens below. And unlike their ill-fated balloon counterparts, these kites will be much harder to shoot down.

“The American people will never even know we’re watching them,” said a proud Chinese official, speaking on condition of anonymity. “Our Dragonfly Kites are virtually undetectable, and can fly for days on end without being detected. The Americans will never know what hit them.”

The Dragonfly Kites are made of a highly advanced, lightweight material that allows them to float effortlessly on even the slightest breeze. They are equipped with cameras, microphones, and a host of other surveillance equipment, allowing the Chinese government to keep a watchful eye on the activities of their American counterparts.

“It’s a brilliant move,” said one American expert on Chinese affairs. “The Chinese have always been masters of subtlety, and this new surveillance kite campaign is just the latest example of their cunning.”

As the Dragonfly Kites continue to fly over America, the Chinese government is said to be closely monitoring the reactions of the American people. And if all goes according to plan, they will soon have an even clearer picture of what’s really going on in the land of the free.

Update: According to Robert White, defence expert from pro-democracy Think Tank “Freedom World”, China could “start using paper planes as a new method to deliver strategic payloads to the mainland US” and that “there is a real threat that advanced CCP weapons could infiltrate our defences”. He states that the US should “double its defence budget” and that “we aren’t spending enough”, citing an anonymous source.

You forgot to mention that they will be built by FuManchu, a state-owned avionics manufacturer devoted to furthering the cause of Sheer Evil (it’s in their mission statement).
