Vladimir Putin, despite being a capitalist and probably very corrupt too, has written an essay that deals with the real facts about the second world war / great patriotic war.

In the essay he dismantles a lot of the lies and myths propagated by western anticommunists which attempt to diminish the gigantic contribution of the Red Army and USSR to the defeat of Nazism. For example, he talks about the Molotov-Ribbentrop Non-Aggression Pact, and the Soviet Union’s response to the German invasion of Poland. He also discusses the then Polish government’s complicity in German crimes against Czechoslovakia, prior to it’s invasion by Germany.

This information has already been around for a while, but it’s good to hear a world leader putting those facts in the forefront, while they are basically completely overlooked in western history classes.

I don’t think I agree with his conclusion about the need to maintain UNSC permanent vetoes. While it may be convenient for Russia and often beneficial to world peace that Russia does have that veto, it doesn’t make much sense that countries such as USA, UK, France, Russia and China should get more say over world affairs than any country in Africa, for example.
