So in the universe of Kaiserreich, the mod for Hearts of Iron, the Bolsheviks (sadly) failed in their revolution.

As a result, Marxism-Leninism became largely discredited. Hence, it was replaced by the Syndicalism we hear about in the game.

However, there is another socialist ideology (well, two, which is called Radical Socialism, but it doesn’t have much to do with the following) in the game known as Totalism, which consists of a lot of authoritarian socialists in that universe. As a result, communists are often featured as Totalists.

Which would have been based if it weren’t for the fact that:

  1. The symbol for Totalism in-game is very similar to the fucking Strasserist symbol.

  2. Benito Mussolini and Oswald Mosley and other literal fashies in OTL are depicted as Totalists.

So basically, in that alternate universe, horseshoe theory became a reality.

Yeah, it’s really tiring to check out a mod and being bombarded with anti-communist propaganda. The other day I tried to play Millennium Dawn for HoI4, and I saw that the DPRK had like -95% research speed, which makes researching anything take decades. Also on the timeline expanded mod for EU4 the DPRK has a fraction of the development of the ROK even before the country is split (if I don’t misremember).

Granted, Mussolini in Kaiserriech is pretty based. He becomes a true to heart Marxist Leninist.

This isn’t actually to much of a jump in logic from our timeline as Mussolini was actually an ardent socialist and revolutionary for much of his early life, before ultimately betraying the movement and becoming a fascist in exchange for the money and power offered by imperialist powers such as England and France.

This is why I much prefer Kaisserredux, its much more representative of leftist ideologies. Theres much more possibility to create actual communist states and socialist countries, complete with the appropriate imagery. Reforming the Soviet Union is also much more fun.
