I was browsing Twitter a little while ago and I was reminded of this “heartwarming” story of an old man who shot and killed a fleeing woman. First of all, even if there was nothing fucked up about that it’s hardly worth bragging about. Secondly, a human doesn’t cease to be a human just because they’ve commited a crime.

We’re raised from a young age to think gun fights are cool via action movies and guys murdering over property is portrayed as completely normal. This is why mass shootings are so common here and nowhere else: We’ve made it far too easy to not see other people as people, it transcends even the old “Us vs Them” mentality with regards to race and creed. Whites kill each other way just as easily.

Oh and don’t bother reading that thread, it’s a sickening mix of chauvinism and mysoginy.

There’s a Spartan culture (I mean this in the worst way) bearing down on the collective psyche of Amerika.

I was thinking the other day about violence in schools and how normalized it’s becoming, but realized that it’s always been rather normalized, just that now, more often than not, it involves guns.

This may be more of a rural thing, idk, but I was thinking of how fucked up it was how everyone I know’s parents told them as children “if somebody bullies you at school, beat them up and I’ll handle it with the principal.” There’s pride in sending your youngling into a Lord of the Flies-esque situation and hearing that they knocked a, once again, literal child’s lights out. Fantasizing about your children beating the shit out of other children is… disturbing, to say the least. There were constant fights at my high school, and there were not very many students at said school.

I am in my mid-20s. When I was in grade school, corporal punishment was often utilized against my classmates and I (and it’s still legal in my birth state!). The principal had a paddle engraved with the school’s name hanging up on a wall behind his desk, and he used it. Not only did we anticipate and suffer violence from the hands of other children, but a complete stranger given authority over us for reasons we could not possibly comprehend at such a young age.

Violence gets things done in Amerika. It settles problems. Diplomacy is for pussies. Somebody stealing your TV to make desperately needed money? Take their life. It’s sick.

Spartan culture without the historical Spartans’ emphasis on bravery and self-discipline.

If Nazism is like Viking paganism but lame, more brutal and without the gods, then the American psyche is Nazism but actively [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted].

You think Americans uphold capitalism so much because they’re raised to value property like this? Like, it makes sense for a prole to align with capitalists when they too value their possessions more than human life.

Capitalism doesn’t want you to respect life of any kind otherwise you might sympathize with the necks your masters are stepping on.
