I get feeling defensive when people outside the US start getting really oddly chauvinistic to an almost racist degree towards regular Americans without reason, but every normal person should hate the United States and the atrocities it has committed.
I think regularly about the clip of an Iranian official saying to the Islamic Consultative Assembly iirc something along the lines of “We all know America is the great satan. They plunder and rob the world. But the American people are not the great satan. They are being plundered and robbed, too” (heavily paraphrased from memory)
