What’s the consensus of sharing published papers here? As a university student I do have access to pay walled and typically inaccessible papers which means I can distribute them here. Though I’m wondering if posting these papers, which are usually incredibly long, is even needed. Would it be unwise to share?

I’ve found some papers my professor published but I’m hesitant to post them as I can risk doxxing myself. I’m not really worried about anyone on here knowing my location/school but I’ve seen some warranted paranoia from comrades and it’s making me pause.

Just wanted to know any opinions on this.

There are platforms out there for sharing research articles already, so if it’s nee content, I’d put it up there, but be careful, use a proxy/vpn and wipe pdf metadata. If you have cool articles that you know of share links to other sources, keep yourself out of the sights as much as possible.

you could contact scihub about giving them access using your login info. that’s how they get their content. they probably know more about cleaning up all the metadata since they have more experience with it. the founder (alexandra albakyan) also seems to be a communist too.

edit: i forgot to say that they haven’t updated since late 2021 because of the lawsuit against them. so i don’t know if they can publish any files that you give them access to yet.
