I just watched Barry Lyndon. It’s a beautiful period piece that follows the life of a young man and his rise and fall in elite British society. It’s by Kubrick. They used satellite lenses to film inside candle lit rooms and so actors move strangely to stay in the field of focus.

Funny side note: Kubrick received a death from the IRA for filming scenes with red coats fighting in Ireland. Prompting him and his team to flee the country within 48hrs. It may have been a hoax, but they didn’t take any chances lol.

I watched an episode of Over the Garden Wall. It was silly and spooky and has an Alice in Wonderland kind of vibe (I imagine, I’ve never read Alice in Wonderland). I liked it.

Over the Garden Wall is wonderful, it’s a tradition round here to watch it every year around spooky season

I loved watching Over The Garden Wall as a kid, I haven’t seen it in a while but it’s roughly movie length if you watch it all back to back so I may kick back and check it out soon. Have you ever seen the Alice in Wonderland movie from the 60s or so? It’s really really cool, it inspired a lot of songs and art because it is sooo trippy, and a lot of people including myself feel that the movie is filled with not-so-subtle drug references.

Watched Triangle of Sadness last night. It’s a satire comedy film and has some actual Marxist themes, plus marx and Lenin quotes, and is hilarious. I have a feeling comrades here will want to see it.

Still don’t really watch movies, still Jack Sparrow everything instead of subbing to a streaming service, last thing I watched was a documentary on the Mexican cartels due to the situation happening in Mexico right now, and no it wasn’t from a western source because I like to streamline facts instead of having to fact-check on a level akin to translating hieroglyphics.

    1. Been to embarrassed to admit it to about anyone but kind of hooked on watching those cheesy Amerikkkan occupied Korean dramas with all the tropes, so those lmaoo.
    2. I have Netflix (leeching off my parents >:)) and nothing else lol.

QotW: Cocaine Bear (its so fucking stupid it has to be good.)

Watched Exception recently. Was a surprisingly well done sci fi show. Can highly recommend. The visual style is quirk, but grows on you. The story is excellent.

I subscribe to netflix, I find they have decent enough selection of stuff to make it worth it. Most other services will have like one show I’d want to watch and I’m not willing to pay for that.

Haven’t really been keeping up with the movies lately, so no idea what’s coming out.

They’re both good movies. Well worth watching. They’re also the kind of movies to watch with other people if that’s something you enjoy.

The series? yes, is definitely entertaining, but in the subgenre of “death games” I prefer Kaiji (anime) and Squid Game though

I saw One or two episodes and it seemed like a show to introduce people to the obvious fact that maybe capitalism is possibly bad🤷‍♂️

A bunch of Portlandia, someone uploaded all the seasons onto YouTube for free lol so I’ve been watching it nonstop. That’s like my top 3 shows ever. Much love to Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein for making one of my favorite sketch comedies ❤️

Yea, it was made by Hipsters in the early-mid 2010s about Portland. It’s a sketch comedy that makes fun of the different types of hipsters in Portland and has a bunch of ridiculous weird sketches that I love
