    The world is good

    Creating the most meaningful connections

making your community a better place

being a good steward of the environment

    making art, love, and intellect

That all sounds mostly good, I guess. Not a fan of the Just World take, but…

This is the essence of conservatism.

    LOL.

Not old, but getting older. My understanding of Marxism-Leninism only becomes more refined and pragmatic as I grow.

I feel like a lot of “former leftists” were never really “leftists”. They adopted trendy nomenclature to impress the people around them, not actually studying revolutionary theory and practice for even a second. I don’t understand how, without undergoing some exceptional degeneration of their mental state, one could go from witnessing reality through the lens of dialectical materialism to just stopping, reverting back to purely idealistic thinking. It makes no goddamn sense to me, unless they never really understood or accepted materialism’s premises in the first place.

The worst political devolution I’d ever foresee for myself is becoming disillusioned at an old age and starting to canvass for left-of-centres or whatever. All the while resenting myself and the opportunists I’d be representing. I can understand that sort of political nihilism taking over a dedicated revolutionary, but becoming an outright fascist or reactionary?

I’ve semi-jokingly told my friends to either put me down or get me to a neuroscientist immediately if I started preaching right-wing bullshit, because something must have seriously broken in my brain.

I know it’s a comforting thought and all, but this is a forming person rejecting pointless teenage rebellion instead of finding a point.
