NEW YEAR NEW ME!!!

No but on a more serious note, I always do like to evaluate the past year on this day. I’ve noticed that I let myself get stuck in a drag in my daily life much more than I needed to. Weeks could go by where I just worked, ate, watch some dumb show and slept. And it made me unhappy. A few weeks ago I decided that I’m going to change the way I spent my time so that I have more meaningful interactions with my friends, family and gf and so that I can prevent myself from becoming a zombie.

You guys have any plans?

I’ve never looked hard into shorts, how can someone synthetize tens/hundreds of pages of theory into 59 secs? It’s hard hard hard and whoever does them has my respect

        • Very basic concepts, no need to explain it fully just what it basically means and maybe an example then link the reading source in a pinned comment.

Mostly trying to recover from autistic burnout and horrible domestic abuse trauma I experienced for the last year and a half

Working on my craft as a music producer and hopefully make enough money to improve my living conditions by streaming since I can’t work a regular job

Hopefully I’ll find someone I like romantically but that’s more a long term challenge than just one year

And of course get back into good condition

I always make a big ambitious list, and if I get a few of them done, I’m happy :) . Currently:

    • Do more organizing
    • Do more home projects (currently growing mushrooms and making coffee)
    • Read hanzi (chinese characters) at a first-grade level
    • Do more fun things with my partner
    • Meditate more
    • Get swole
    • Start painting
    • Practice piano more

Piano is awesome! What kind of painting do you want to do?

I’m still very much a beginning painter, so I’m still doing small, simple painting tutorials on youtube. Eventually I want to work up to recreating some communist art / pics I have saved, then eventually do originals.

Ya I’ve done it for a year, but the methods I’ve been doing are really inconsistent (uncle Ben tek and broke boi tek). Gonna try a few different ones and try to get larger yields. The goal is to have so many that I don’t need to buy them from the store anymore.

I will also take my yearly New Year’s dive tomorrow at a body of water of my choice. So far I have had a River, a canal in a city and the sea. I hope I can find a lake.

Gonna start decoupling from big tech companies. Not just out of principle but it’ll be less painful if tensions between China and The West lead to more region restrictions like with TikTok.

    Already off Facebook.

Free of Amazon as soon as I switch to alternatives to Audible. Logging out of my twitch account is doing my MH a world of good.

Google’s going to be the biggest PITA to decouple from. Gonna start by getting a Huawei and then can begin untangling everything from my Google Account.

MS I have to stick with for a while. A lot of work-related stuff requires Windows and I’m not dropping xbox gamepass until I can find other hobbies.

Smart move. I deleted twitter, fb, and insta with my partner for the new year. Twitter was the hardest for me to break, but it’s like your twitch, already doing wonders for my mental health.

Google is a tough one… especially the play store, and Google play services. I have a Xiaomi phone, but it’s still heavily tied to Google.

What you doing for messaging? Afaik signal relies on Google play services.

Yeah Signal sucks. Its raison d’etre is security and it’s not secure.

Luckily most people I know have WeChat (I should have specified Western big tech comapanies), it’s mostly overseas friends that don’t and they’re mostly on Discord. Gonna keep Discord for a while.

Having a lot of success with Mastodon. It’s not ‘suggesting’ or ‘promoting’ posts at me, my followed list is just people I follow and it feels so fucking clean.

Noice… I’m gonna install WeChat rn. I honestly trust that more than signal.

Masto really got a boost with its nice android apps IMO, so I’ve gotta start using it more, even though I’m not huge into microblogging.

    Sounds like a great resolution.

2022 has been very rough on us, so many of our resolutions could be summed up as “get life back on track.” Shave my head, make sure I keep exercising, get the house in order, make music, make sure I’m at least mildly financially stable, and I know it’s cheesy shit that everybody says (many people just as hollow virtue signalling) but I really want to make sure I spend time with my close ones and being grateful for them.

I really want to feel like my life is moving forward, even in the most tiny incremental ways. I’m in my mid-20s and I have so much I would want to do, and it feels like I’ve been falling sideways for my entire teenage/adult life. I know this is obviously for many systemic reasons but I don’t want to let myself make an excuse and have an unsatisfactory life by my standards.

  • I’ve got the thing I have to do in June so ig the year’s resolution is preparing for it, after that my aim will be set and I’ll see what comes next.

I got 4 books sitting on my mini fridge. The fridge is full of b|er and the book are authored by Grove Furr. My goal is to not drink all the beer before I read all the books. -

btw if there are any class traitors here with the ability to make hiring decisions who want to make my life easier, I’m a trans woman computer programmer with 3 years of work experience. I’m looking for fully remote jobs, ideally part time. or if y’all just have suggestions for where to apply that’s good too.

I’ll have ended next year knowing 7 languages, attend my dream uni, learn more theory, get by some other cool subjects, get jacked, prolly get a girlfriend, among others.

If I don’t get depressed midway, that is.

Hmm I haven’t decided yet. I’m thinking a Parenti book besides Blackshirts. Maybe To Kill A Nation?

Also someone suggested a book on Deng Xiaoping to me that I was interested in but I wanted to do research on it before I read it so I’m not just absorbing distortion and misinformation

The book on Deng might be the Oval Vogel one, I’m also wondering about that.

Another good parenti book is inventing reality, it’s about capitalist media and its indoctrination methods. Audiobook is on YouTube / torrents also.

I haven’t really thought about a New Years resolution, but I think I’m going to make the effort in the next few days to join a communist party.
