Germans? Germans?! Just what level of brain worm infestation is this?!
Probably just counting all the Nazi scientists who were part of both US and USSR space programs as Germans.
I was listening to a podcast a few months ago, ostensibly about the anniversary of Sputnik. But instead of talking about the development, the technology, the motivations, the lead scientists and engineers, etc., it was a discussion about how the Soviets being the first really lit the fire under the good guy Americans asses and got them motivated.
