    tbh if they can manage to bring back cutting edge high tech manufacturing back to the imperial core it would be pretty helpful in stifling their decline. but they exported it to the global south for a reason and i cannot imagine moving it back being sustainable without heavy subsidies to keep shareholders happy or just nationalising the sector (the latter is next to impossible).

      Yeah I heard that high tech manufacturing plants suck up a shit ton of water and the US is already having bad water problems as is, don’t know what the plan is there.

      It would, but the addiction to low wage labor in the global south means its never going to happen. Just too expensive. They completed their transition to finance capitalism and there’s no going back.
