Here’s some random stuff, I mainly like turn-based strategy games: XCOM and XCOM 2, Battletech (roguetech mod), Jagged Alliance 2 (SevenFM’s 1.13 mods), Pillars of Eternity 2 on turn based mode, divinity 2, Civ 6, Phoenix point, battle brothers

as far as non-turn based stuff: Adaca, Disco Elysium, Factorio, Cruelty Squad

Good list, though I liked the first Pillars of Eternity game more, for some reason the second one just didn’t appeal to me as much.

I could never get into the real time with pause mechanics.

Pause mechanics are so nostalgic thanks to BG, NwN, and (to a slightly lesser extent) FFVII and Pokémon Red/Blue.

Tbh I dislike the general shift away from pause mechanics. (I don’t have too much time to play games, though, so maybe I’m missing the niche titles.) Newer battle systems can be more ‘exciting’ but they can get button-smashing-heavy quite quickly and I like to be able to think slowly about how to use limited resources (mana, projectiles, etc).

Battle brothers is quite good. Are you playing the legends mod or vanilla?

Try both Pathfinder games. If you liked Pillars, you’ll like those. Though the first game has a couple mechanics that might annoy you, they can be fixed with mods.

Are they based on the table top RPG pathfinder? I used to play that a lot in high school so I’d be curious to see how it compares.

By the way, if you have a GM who is willing to do the prep work, I suggest you try the new edition of Pathfinder TTRPG. It’s an absolute blast, and access to the rules is free (check aonprd.com and the Pathbuilder 2e app for building characters).

I just started playing Partisans 1941 and so far it’s really good! Pretty based too, especially considering it’s by a German developer.

What games do you usually play?

For Survival, I’d recommend Subnautica. And although they are city builders, you might enjoy Frostpunk and Endzone too. Also, check out Dwarf Fortress and Rimworld.

Lately I’ve been playing this game called Omori, it’s like Earthbound but fully embraces the horror aspects of that game.

Oof, that’s a hard one. I’m more familiar with RPG and strategy and some point-and-click adventures from when I was younger.

Give No Man’s Sky a shot. It’s technically more geared towards exploration, but it has survival mode IIRC

I’ve been playing Factorio. It’s a really addictive game for some personality types, to the extent that I’m not sure I can recommend it responsibly. It’s a really well made game, though.

This game has such a high educational value, teaching about real industry processes and encouraging people to be organized and to solve problems creatively. If you are addicted to this game, you are a special kind of person that values learning, working and experimenting. I say it’s worth your time.

Also available to play in 29 languages! (Yes, that’s the first thing I check.)

        I’m sold.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a machine to play it on unless it comes to playstation, but it looks like Windows, Mac OS, Linux, or Nintendo Switch only for now.

If you have friends to play with Phasmophobia is a pretty fun game but it’s hard to get started and kinda sucks solo. I got into it because a buddy of mine was like lvl 800 and had all the gear and money to support us. My biggest complaint of the game is how hard it is to build up your gear from starting out. IF You have a group and rotate who brings the gear that map then it’s way more fun. The “gear gimp” hangs back and stays safe because if you die you loose all the gear you brought.

    Victoria 3

The Forest (or a survival game similar like 7 days to die)

    Overwatch (🤮 I know)

    Unrailed!

Modded Beat Saber if you have an Oculus

    Dying Light

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey (wonderful game about evolution)

    For the King

    Kerbal Space Program

    Risk of Rain 2

    Super Motherload

    Town of Salem

    We Need To Go Deeper

Those are all the games I play. Pirate them all except for Overwatch and Town of Salem

I’ve been playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and it’s fantastic. So fun to explore ancient Greece, they did a great job with the world. The combat and stealth are pretty fun too. And it’s easy to just pick up for 30-40 minutes and do a quest or clear a fort, which is good cause I have little time to play.
