Non-falsifiable orthodoxy again. If the weapons had caused tons of death then they would say that it is because they were targeting civilians and not that they were targeting critical infrastructure. Since the weapons caused little death then it is evidence of the low quality of their weapons since they were clearly trying to kill civilians more than target infrastructure.

Or maybe, they weren’t trying to genocide every Ukrainian. No, that doesn’t sound right. If we were in the same situation, we would genocide everyone, so clearly they’re incompetent and their weapons are bad. /s

  • During the cold war, the anticommunist ideological framework could transform any data about existing communist societies into hostile evidence. If the Soviets refused to negotiate a point, they were intransigent and belligerent; if they appeared willing to make concessions, this was but a skillful ploy to put us off our guard. By opposing arms limitations, they would have demonstrated their aggressive intent; but when in fact they supported most armament treaties, it was because they were mendacious and manipulative. If the churches in the USSR were empty, this demonstrated that religion was suppressed; but if the churches were full, this meant the people were rejecting the regime’s atheistic ideology. If the workers went on strike (as happened on infrequent occasions), this was evidence of their alienation from the collectivist system; if they didn’t go on strike, this was because they were intimidated and lacked freedom. A scarcity of consumer goods demonstrated the failure of the economic system; an improvement in consumer supplies meant only that the leaders were attempting to placate a restive population and so maintain a firmer hold over them.

If communists in the United States played an important role struggling for the rights of workers, the poor, African-Americans, women, and others, this was only their guileful way of gathering support among disfranchised groups and gaining power for themselves. How one gained power by fighting for the rights of powerless groups was never explained. What we are dealing with is a nonfalsifiable orthodoxy, so assiduously marketed by the ruling interests that it affected people across the entire political spectrum.

You can’t have your cake and eat it too, how are they simultaneously killing thousands of civilians because they’re “evil”, but also killing not enough civilians because their weapons are “low quality”?

As if it weren’t enough that Russia has only three missiles to spare, anonymous sources have now confirmed that two of them are actually donkeys with pointy hats

Dutch news feed looks like this right now: Haha look how incompetent Putin is, look! In other news, due to rising inflation more and more children go to school without eating. Should the government step in?

Oh, I just knew they were going to try to say that Russian weapons are bad. It can’t just be that Russia tried to kill the least amount of people possible, it must’ve been bad weapons and stupid army.

“Why didn’t Russia bomb the place into oblivion like we do? Their weapons must be bad.”

What, is the fact that we deliberately avoid targeting civilians incomprehensible to Westerners? Should we pull a Baghdad on Kiev? Is that it? Good god.

It really is to a lot of people here. These are the same people that watched the bombing of Baghdad and compared it to fireworks and called it beautiful. They’ve been talking about how Russia has been screwing up since the start because they aren’t just destroying everything and steamrolling through Ukraine.

Liberals are some of the worst human beings ever. Every decent human does not want death on a mass scale because they have something called compassion, maybe Liberals should get some sometime.
