Can anyone direct me to where I can do that or how to do that?

Thanks in advance!

Just want to download something a game for, err, free, essentially.

You can say you want to pirate a video game. It’s not something you would be chastised for.

Cs.rin.ru, with english translations. The og steam piracy forum that has pretty much every game as well as even universal dlc unlockers that work for alot of legit steam games as well.

I use their dlc unlocker to avoid paying for new characters in tekken 7 (pretty dumb that you cant practice against new characters otherwise)

Otherwise as seen in another post fitgirl repacks is really good overall even though the name is sussy lol

Its when a game is compressed into an easy to install and smaller file size to download package, usually precracked as well without any file copying aside just installing.

FYI repack are just useful for downloading, they take an enormous amount of time to install. If you have a good connection, repacks are slower than normal downloads. The game gets uncompressed when you install it so it takes as much disk space once installed. The only space saving measure is that they let you pick which language packs you want to install sometimes, which can save a few gigs.

The pirate bay is full of malware. Do not use anything from there.

The reddit /r/piracy sub has a wiki, though not maintained for a few months it has links to other piracy masterposts which are maintained and it’s not that terribly out of date as of this moment and still has good advice and rec’s.

Good for you. The piracy community writ large knows it to be full of malware with regards to the software section. There is no effective moderation meaning anyone who uses it for software is not acting in their own best interests.

Pirating software is always a Russian Roulette gamble of which you may not know the results for years, even from the most trusted groups. However no trusted groups post on that site and repeated experience from the community has shown trusted user accounts are regularly used to post malware. Yeah it happens on leetx too sometimes but on there the person doing it gets banned and their uploads removed in a timely manner.

TPB is a relic from decades past. The latest releases from the scene for movies, tv shows, etc are all publicly repackaged or dumped on other more favored and better moderated sites like 1337x or rarbg. I admit very rarely there’s some odd, rare piece of old media that only exists on the public nets from some old dvd-rips and encodes from 2009 which you find as an avi on TPB and nowhere else. However outside of that everything is simply better and safer elsewhere.

1337x, rarbg, and rutracker are favored sites in all categories. For things like anime and software there are a few other, newer more ever-shifting sites which I won’t go into here but which can easily be found in the links I’ve mentioned and resources they link to.

Get yourself a torrent client. Transmission for linux and for windows there is bittorrent and deluge (avoid utorrent). Then head to rarbggo.to and search your game there for the correct platform. There will be a link that works on the torrent client and will perform the download. Might be worth checking the wikipedia page of the game to know in which stores it was released. Each one might have a different way to crack (make the game work without a license). Some are drm free like gog, which means they don’t even need a crack to work. So be sure to give preference to those. In case the crack is needed, be sure to follow the instructions. Usually they just require you to copy the contents of a crack folder to the location where it was installed. Hope this was helpful. Good pirating!

What are good torrent clients? What are “repacks”? What are “scenes”? What are all these terms? What’s a “crack”?

For torrent clients: Always use an open source one. it should have an IP binding feature if you need to torrent with a VPN. My favorites are qbittorrent for any desktop OS and libretorrent for android.

Repacks are compressed games to reduce download size (and time) for people with limited internet bandwidth. After the game is downloaded, you decompress it.

        idk what a scene is.

Cracking is removing DRM from a game to allow you to play it for free. Many games are DRM free and don’t need cracking (like games reuploaded from GOG store like this site.)

Thanks. I’ll try qbittorent. What do you think?

I’m looking for repacks at this point. Preferably for my Steam account.

Scenes are the groups that provide the cracked game or software. Today there’s Goldberg, CPY, P2P, and that’s bout it. The old groups like Skidrow and Reloaded stopped after Denuvo for the most part. There’s a new one called DOGE too that I’ve never seen before, named after the meme.

The name is very, very old. Comes from the 80s I believe, back when people started cracking software.

Ohh that makes sense, thank for explaining. I’ve never followed a specific scene because I wasn’t aware it’s a thing, just looked for whatever had a lot of seeds.

    • Grab yourself a torrent client of some sort (Deluge and qBittorrent are my personal recommendations)
    • Depending on what browser you’re using, I’d recommend installing ad and tracker blockers as a safety precaution. uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger are my personal choices. Considering the hoopla regarding Chrome addons recently, you may need to get on Firefox or one of it’s forks.
    • I can personally vouch for Fitgirl Repacks as a source of various pirated PC games (they also do emulator packs for PS3 and Switch games but that’s another thing entirely). Tested and working cracks, compressed to shit to save on bandwidth. Install times can take a while but I’ve very rarely had a Fitgirl release go bad on me. Link.

I also highly recommend getting a VPN for that too (Mullvad is very good for example). In many countries, including where I live, they come after torrenting hard.

Or if you have a bit more money lying around, a seedbox

I don’t know who this fit girl fellow is, definitely never used it myself, but I heard from a friend that they have reliable repacks for almost every game, so I can vouch for that too. Just takes a while to install if you have shitty PC like me.

Yup, repacks from there nearly always work good. Switch emu games can be wonky but that’s the fault of emu, not the repack.

there are a few free games on steam, but steam really sucks these days. the whole steam community got infected with far-right 4ch-like bs. to the point where i just deleted my account. had faith in steam for too long, and always got let down. most recently they hosted a game where you play as /kyle rittenhouse/ and murder immigrants and bipoc people. it’s really disgusting, and really awful

like comrade straightpeach said, torrenting video games is a great alternative, and one that is going to be a lot less stressful than playing anything through steam.

then personally i love emulators and roms, i still go back to play so many n64/gbc/gba games, and that’s about all i can play anymore due to hardware limitations anyway. there are a bunch of websites to download roms too. software like retroarch makes handling different roms/emulators really simple too

if you really need to use the steam client, then just head to the steam website, create an account, download & install the steam client, open the client, login, and use the steam store to browse for games. it should be clear how to use the client to install games after that. most games on steam cost nazibuxxx tho, and many of the free games have pay-to-play bs built in. if you are on linux, consult your distro’s documentation on steam setup (it can vary)

if you have any adjacent questions, lmk

    happy gaming!

The original FNaF games from Cawthon himself (FNaF1 through UCN) are just single .exe files that can be copied and played anywhere independently (even in WINE on GNU/Linux), as they do not depend on the Steam API. Just a friendly reminder.

I’ve been a long term Steam user (10+ years) but after they changed the whole UI, where now it effectively is just Chromium Browser running a Web App, it started to get progressively worse. Everything started to take a lot longer than before (starting game, uninstalling game, moving files, etc.). Now it’s literally so bad that when I click “Play” nothing really happens for a good few minutes and then suddenly the game pops up. Why is that? I’ve checked logs and tried many things but to no avail. And the best thing? Every single game I downloaded from GOG comes up instantly. And also every single FOSS game I have installed starts up instantly (even 0 A.D.).

Maybe it’s because I’m on GNU/Linux and maybe the Linux native Steam client is just shit because I found out that it expects you to have systemd, whereas I’m using runit. And since the Windows Client has a higher priority it’s probably not likely for them to fix problems like this. I’ve been on their Github issue tracker many times before and they tend to be very unresponsive when it comes to bug reports or improvements.

That was my final straw. The communities becoming 4chan didn’t bother me that much because I just stopped going there after I noticed the large volumes of toxicity.

more of the same from the online community. epic gives away a lot of games, but most of those are boring or just really hollow, lacking substance. it’s the problem of capitalist over production just with video games

True, but the amount produced is many times more than it was, so there is many good games now, but 90% of them is just utter crap as per rule. For example go to stream and display ALL new games, theres so many of them and you never even heard or see about 99% of them because they are super niche indie games.

Epic is crap though. Their prices are crap, the are no mods, the only reason entire thing did not fall flat on face is the cosmic amount of money pumped into it at the start and all the free games they are giving out (most of them are complete shit lately).

They have both repacks and non-repacks. Repacks are usually highlighted as such in the title.

Download from gofile or zippyshare if they have it, they’re the two best download sites on the web currently (no speed caps and super easy downloads). Files.fm is also good.
