Honestly, the people in the West doing this gives me hope that revolution is possible over here.

Never lose hope, comrade. Revolution in the west is not only possible, but an imperative. The thing is that people in the west have to struggle not only against the class enemy, but against the total hegemony impossed upon them. But no matter how hopeless the fight may seem, you cannot simply surrender. The history of the socialist revolutions like China, Cuba or Vietnam has shown us how even in the face of all odds against us we can always come up victorious, that the will of the people will become unbreakable and that the march of history is unstoppable. Keep fighting, keep organizing, learning and educating. Pessimism of the mind, optimism of the will.

I was born in China, moved to Canada as a kid and am now a Canadian citizen, didn’t get into communism until over 10 years as a Canadian citizen. I can still technically get Chinese citizenship back if I drop my Canadian one because I have a Chinese birth certificate (not sure how easy that actually would be btw, just that there’s technically a provision in the law for that). But the only reason I’m still in Canada is, one, moving countries is hard as fuck even if they let you, I’m fucking poor and don’t even know that much Mandarin anymore, and two, I’m hoping maybe I can help out with communist movements over here, but not sure how well that will work though considering… It’s Canada.

Thanks for your advice! Though I think the bigger issue before even that is idk how well I can do in China now. I’m pretty alienated from the culture and language, it’s really hard to pick that back up. Might have to just stay here and help with socialist movements in Canada. Which, Canada needs socialists while China already has plenty so I might just stay to organize with the comrades over here, might do more good for socialism than going to an already socialist country?

Honestly, I haven’t put serious thought into whether I actually want to go for it, because regardless of that I’m not at all in a position to even try it anytime soon. Maybe once I finish uni and move out of my parents house, and have some work/living experience.

Love Carlos. He did some great episodes with Brian Becker on the socialist program about the Soviet union as well.
