Yeah these little “wellness check” reports are quite sinister considering what too often happens during wellness checks IRL.

Leave it to libs and fascists to harass you in novel ways

I’ve gotten two of these. I have no idea what they hope to accomplish with this, it really doesn’t do anything.

Edgy 15 y/o humor I guess? Except these ppl never grew up. It reminds me of how around 5 years ago, “KYS” (kill yourself) was a thing people said to one another a lot.

Couldn’t work on me. I never check my Reddit inbox.

I have occasionally received a copy when it made sense (like shortly after making a thread titled ‘Should I kill myself?’), but most of the time they’re just confusing. I can’t say that I’ve ever really used the ones that I got either.

I mean, it’s not that bad if it’s a suicide watch message. Doesn’t seem political either, if I got this and I’m not suicidal, I’d just ignore it. I was expecting a warning that you broke Reddit’s rules with something they’re supposed to allow by their own “free speech” policy like criticizing Ukraine or something.

Oh no, I’m pretty certain someone done this with the idea of trying to troll. Others have talked about this. I see this as similar to how ppl use to say “kys” to one another on the internet in 2017. I’ve been pretty active on the major ‘tAnKiE’ subreddits lately, so that’s probably why.

With that context, it definitely seems more sinister.

What I assumed was (because I’ve done this but never got a suicide watch message), was you were complaining how awful your life is under capitalism and that you’re at the end of your rope. If you weren’t showing potential red flags like that, I imagine this is just passive aggressive and weaponising a suicide support feature which is pretty gross. Guess I still think too highly of Reddit.

The whole thing is disrespectful at best. Regardless of if someone is “suicidal.” How could it possibly help anyone?
