On my feed I’ve seen articles that this Folio company wants to produce these drives in 2024. But I haven’t seen anything real. Be cool if it were a real thing.

    For those who don’t know about it here’s a link: FolioPhotonics The company has released too little information in my opinion, however, should what there saying be true, it would be an impressive bit of kit for many archival scenarios. On the other hand, I’m not sure that it would be all that useful for many home use cases, seeing as there comparing performance to that of tape technology, which whilst extremely useful for long term data archival, isn’t exactly somewhere you’d want to store any games you plan to play anytime soon (unless the game fits into ram I guess).

    For mass storage I got 5 250gb hdds and put them in a RAID

      from where for how much? seems like a good idea if you can increase bandwidth that way… I was thinking about buying just one 4TB seagate…

        In that capacity I suggest getting the seagate. I mainly pulled my hard drives out of old laptops
