As the title says, I’m really curious wether to find something interesting or not and what are your experiences with it?

In my view, anything that was original to 4chan has pretty much spread all over the internet already by now. The anonymity is cool but the liberalism inherent to the site’s moderation just turns most discussions into an unproductive, unoriginal hivemind that slides ever further into uncreative and reactionary tendencies.

After the many years I spent on 4chan and similar imageboards, I can’t think of anything really positive to say except I had a few laughs here and there and it taught me a lot about the mindset of incels and white nationalists, and I got to watch the unfortunate dynamics of communities that are founded on little else than “free speech” all descend from vague libertarianism into reactionary far-right breeding grounds over and over again. It was an instructive experience, but not really one I care to repeat or recommend.

Personally I have zero desire to look such places ever again, as anything I liked about it can be found in much less annoying and reactionary places. And as I said, anything that was original to 4chan–good or bad–seems to have pretty much spread all over other parts of the internet anyway. It’s been years since I looked at it so I don’t know what’s going on there now.

I haven’t gone to 4chan in… like 10 years, maybe. So things may have changed since I used to go there.

Imo it’s not worth it. Some boards are worse than others, and you might find useful information depending on what you’re looking for, but not without wading through a million nazis and their rhetoric. It’s just not a nice place.

Depends on what you’re looking for, if it’s hobby related, see tabletop games, comics or vdya, is worth it. Politics/economics wise? God no

    4chan is essentially mask-off Reddit.

It’s not worth it. It’s a shit website. Any good stuff that might be posted on it ends up find its way on other social media so you don’t have to fish it from the gargantuan pile of trash that is that website.

I mean honestly I see no reason to. It’s the worst aspects of the internet. Racism, sexism, transphobia, anti-semetic, Islamophobia, etc. Best case scenario you get an okay green text that makes you chuckle after reading 4 paragraphs. All in all I’d advise against it, do what you want, but Beware: ALWAYS USE ANON! Don’t make a username, there are more than a few stories of people stalking users on 4chan, and given their anon feature, it’s best to just use that if you insist on checking out that hellhole at any point.

Over a decade earlier I could occasionally find an interesting thread on /v/, and at one point I was even an /int/ poster, but the posters themselves are rarely chill and immediately spew rage at others over the mildest mistakes. (The biggest ‘Old Man Yells at Cloud’ moment that happened to me was when somebody spewed a slur at me and told me to delete my thread and commit suicide…because I made a thread asking others if they said ‘ciao’ and I said that I prefer it because it’s less religious than ‘goodbye’.) Even the one board that I still visit with any regularity has this problem.

I have occasionally found a useful link there (responses to Shoah denial, for example), and it’s funny to watch neofascists infight, but even so I’d say that it’s more trouble than it’s worth. Too much raging, misogyny, white supremacy, uselessness, boring posts, and sometimes images that might cause you brain damage (white supremacists in particular love equating their enemies with all things unclean). You aren’t missing out on much.

Many Polish neofascists are not only anti‐Semitic but anti‐German as well, partially due to how the Third Reich devastated Poland. Their neofascism, generally speaking, does not derive from the German tradition.

no. 4ch is openly racist, white supremacist, fascist. everything on the website itself is just bait for the larger cause of radicalizing people to ultra nationalist domestic terrorism. they have openly flaunted using the psychological processes used to train japanese kamikaze bombers during imperial japans reign as psychological warfare. they’re a part of the larger national security state apparatus which needs these types of organizations, and the extremism they spread, to legitimize itself. they are also part of the scheme of mass abuse at scaled costs. 4ch is where neo-nazi mass shooters go back to post manifestos
