      Yeah, and the gap will only keep widening going forward. China already graduates more people than US in STEM, and has incredible manufacturing capability that’s simply unmatched by the rest of the world. That translates into a huge talent pool for doing research and the ability to translate it into technology that can be rapidly manufactured at scale. Meanwhile, central planning provides high level direction and coordination ensuring a high level of cohesion of research and development. This model simply can’t be matched by loose ad hoc efforts.
