The United States has shipped about a third of its existing arsenal of Stinger anti-air and Javelin anti-armor missiles to Ukraine

Ellen Lord […] said Stingers cannot be replaced “within the next couple of years” because its production line has been shut down. Even simple items, such as diodes, used to regulate voltage for these systems could be difficult to obtain.

“Even with Javelin, we are probably five years” away from replenishing that stock despite its manufacturing line remaining open, she added.

World class economy. 5 years to replenish 1/3 of its stockpile…

I honestly think one of the main points of shoveling all these arms into a country with known massive corruption and black markets was for the majority to end up in extremists hands for many years to come. all to help destabilize Russia and China.

The cia actually loves how the Mujahadin blowback played out for them. A couple thousand Americans died, and they got trillions to play with out of the deal.

Yes, it’s not like it’s first time they are doing it, it’s one of the staple part of their politics, which they were doing everywhere in Asia, Africa and C/S America.

Now imagine the region without Stalin moving borders and peoples. USA would make Yugoslavian war look like a picnic in comparison.

Have we reached the point that we can call the US a paper tiger without being edgy.

Neoliberal warfare. It’s crazy how Ukraine is going through with this war without any form of war economy at all. You would think they’d start mass nationalization or start forcing private industry to manufacture military equipment, but they aren’t. They’re completely reliant on foreign aid for everything, they aren’t mass manufacturing anything at all. Meanwhile Russias military manufacturing is in nearly full speed, manufacturing artillery munitions, missiles, small arms etc. Goes to show how corrupted the ukrainian government is, the capitalist class doesn’t even want the state to intervene to protect themselves. All they’re doing is mass conscription and basically throwing bodies at the Russians. I wonder if other western countries would act this way during warfare too.

It has been talked about for a while.

Thing is, missiles like Javelin require a lot of computer parts for its guidance system. Those parts are the bottleneck of the missiles, since they can’t ramp up the production unless they want to cripple the civilian economy that depend on the same computer parts as well.

It’s one reason why most armed forces around the world still use unguided ammunitions and cannons in significant number.
