Similar situation in early PRC. Poor peasants were demanding the heads of their landlords, and the CPC actually had to step in to ensure they were given trials lol. Anyone ever accuses Chinese communists of “classicide” or whatever, think of that
Also, AFAIK most of the landlords they executed were not actually because they were landlords, but was due to other crimes committed like slavery, rape of tenants, etc. Surprise surprise, landlords, especially in a basically feudal country which China was back then, are horrible people.
I heard a story of an incident where the trial of one of the landlords got a little heated, to the point the peasants rush themselves pass the guards to beat the crap out of that landlord. By the time PLA personals managed to get things under control again, the landlord was long dead.
Probably just a story, but should give you some idea how much hates the landlord were getting.
